Community members looking through the "Owl", a digital viewfinder that was installed, as part of Look Ahead - San Mateo, that helps viewers visualize potential sea level rise impacts and solutions.

Come join the County of San Mateo’s Sustainability Academy and your fellow community members to learn about sea level rise, its potential impacts in our community, and what you can do to get involved! We are offering a no-cost 1-hour webinar and a half-day workshop to our San Mateo County community members in March on this important topic. We hope to see you there!

1. Sea Level Rise Workshop: Finding Common Ground: A Workshop on Communicating about Sea Level Rise

With over 100,000 people living in areas that are at risk from three feet of sea level rise and more frequent flooding from storms in San Mateo County, it is important to involve all community members in helping to find solutions to the impacts of sea level rise.

Through this workshop, attendees will learn from climate change communications experts Climate Access and Dr. Susanne Moser about effective ways to find common ground and work collectively. The workshop will share results from the Look Ahead San Mateo sea level rise visualization project and will provide tools and methods to assist attendees in engaging others in taking action and preparing for sea level rise. Attendees will also hear about the results of the Sea Change SMC vulnerability assessment.

Lunch will be provided!

2. Sea Level Rise Webinar: Finding Common Ground: Communicating about Sea Level Rise

If you are pressed for time and cannot commit to a half-day workshop, please join us from the comfort of your home or your office to learn more about sea level rise by registering for this 1-hour webinar!
