2016 Bicycle and Pedestrian Count
Join us as we Walk! Bike! Count!
The Office of Sustainability is, once again, conducting a Bike & Pedestrian Count throughout San Mateo County the week of September 12 – 18. We are in need of volunteer counters. We may have as many as 50 locations throughout the County where volunteer shifts will be available on weekdays and weekends. We’d love to have you join us and volunteer at this new project!
What is this all about - San Mateo County is participating in the National Bicycle and Pedestrian Documentation Project for the second year in a row. What gets counted, gets attention! Documenting how many people are walking and bicycling is the first step to increasing and improving these modes. This nationwide effort follows a standardized protocol and the resulting data can be used by planners and decision-makers to guide investment decisions around sustainable transportation options.
Here is where you come in – We need dedicated volunteers like you to help us with our effort! Volunteers are needed to help us with the in-field data collection component. This means that you get to be outside enjoying a couple of hours in the beautiful, mid-peninsula weather while keeping a record of those who walk or bicycle past.
If you would like to volunteer, please fill out this form. Keep in mind that minor changes may take place until August 26th. More specifics (including an orientation and a volunteer count packet) will come once all counting locations have been finalized and volunteers are assigned to counting sites. Please feel free to direct any questions to email@example.com.
